The Eco-Faith Working Group, with UNEP Faith for Earth Coalition’s Youth Council, convene a dedicated group of children and youth representatives from various faith backgrounds, united by a shared commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability within the Children and Youth Major Group to UNEP (CYMG).
This collective recognizes the pivotal role that faith communities play in promoting environmental justice and harmony with the planet. Members of the working group are driven by a vision to mobilize faith leaders, organizations, and individuals to take collective action for a more sustainable world under the Action Plan.

Mottainai Youth Declaration on Zero Waste and Circularity
At the UNEP IETC Global Dialogue 2025 Youth Day, global participants developed the Mottainai Youth Declaration on Zero Waste and Circularity, a policy framework of youth-driven commitments and recommendations. Rooted in the Japanese term Mottainai (もったいない), which expresses regret over waste, the declaration underscores the urgency of circularity and sustainable practices.
